Annual English Elocution Contest – 2022

The Annual English Elocution Contest was held at J.H.Tarapore School on 7th September, 2022. The Chief Guest for the evening was Mrs.Deepa Verma, Chief Human Resource Business Partner, Corporate Functions Tata Steel.

The eminent panel of judges comprised Dr. Yahiya Ibrahim, Head of the Department, Karim City College, Mrs. Nilanjana Mukherjee, Senior English Teacher, DBMS English School and Mrs. Nandini Bhattacharjee, Senior School Academic Coordinator, Narbheram Hansraj English School.

The students were categorised into five groups.

Group A consisted of Poetry Recitation by the students of Std. VI. The first prize in this category was won by KUMARI SHREE the second prize was won by MANYA DUBEY.

Group B consisted of Story Telling by the students of Std. VIII. The first prize was won by SMUTI SIMARANIKA and the second prize was won by ANUSHKA SRIVASTAVA.

Group C consisted of Declamation by the students of Stds. IX and X. The first prize was won by PRANATI SINGH and the second prize by AMRITA PANDEY.

Group D consisted of ‘TED TALKS’, by Std. XI and XII. The first prize was won by ARIBA SARWAR and the second prize by AASTHA SINGH.

Group E consisted of ‘ Dramatisation of Poems’ by the students of Std. VII. The children enacted poems like “The Three Little Pigs”, “The Inchcape Rock “and “The Diverting History of Sir John Gilpin”. It was a spectacular display of dramatic and oratory skills. The winner was Std. VII B the poem was ‘The Inchcape Rock’ and the Best Character awards went to SHUBHANGEE SAHA and DEBOLINA DUTTA.

Probe 2022

PROBE is a much awaited Inter School Science Fest organized jointly by the Science Club, Environment Club and Mathematics Club of J.H.Tarapore School. It was held on 6th August, 2022 in the school premises. This provided an opportunity for the participants of various schools in town to ignite creative, collective scientific thinking and understand the dependence of humankind on Science, Mathematics and Environment.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Chanakya Choudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel.

The programme began with lighting the lamp followed by the Environmental Awareness Rally, “ECOMINIONS”. The aim of this rally is to create awareness regarding environmental issues and encourage people to contribute towards a greener and sustainable planet. The mega fest had enthusiastic participants from 22 schools. The theme for the fest was based on the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development.

Probe included a variety of innovative and competitive events such as “Be the Bakshi”(Treasure Hunt), “Giggling Gagster”(Standup Comedy), “Expedition Unknown”(Vlog), “Speedathon” (Efficiency in Maths), “Global Assets”(Model Making), “Science Convention”(Speak your Mind), “Scigenix”(Quiz), “Minipixel”(Insta Reel), “Jazzy Chords” (Rap Battle), “Artisera” (Dance), “Classic Thalassic” (Fashion Show)

The fun filled Probe concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. The Overall Champion was Loyola School. The First Runner -up was Rajendra Vidyalaya.

Convergence 2022

J.H Tarapore School organized “Convergence” 2022, a one day fun filled workshop on 5th August, 2022.

It is held on the eve of “Friendship Day” which falls on the first Sunday of August .The day was full of interaction, fun learning and excitement where children mingled with each other and worked a as team. The students of standard V from 24 schools of Jamshedpur participated in this non – competitive workshop.The Chief Guest Jayati Paul Chief Projects Capital Planning Tata Steel, Jamshedpur inaugurated the function.  After the inauguration ceremony, various interesting sessions were conducted. The first session was “Making Friends” where the students were put in different groups. As this year is “International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture”, the groups were named after various aquatic animals. In the session “Piece Out” the students made jigsaw puzzles on Aquatic Creatures and made a collage on “Aquaculture”. The students learnt innovative ways of making advertisement in the fun – filled session – “English is Fun!”. The session ended with an amazing Dance performance with the prize distribution ceremony with a message to all the groups and not to any particular school, thus spreading the message of love, friendship and togetherness.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2022

 J. H. Tarapore School organised the Investiture Ceremony on the 29th of July,2022, for the session 2022-23.The Cabinet  was sworn in at a formal investiture ceremony, to confer the authority of leadership portfolios to democratically elected students of J. H. Tarapore School.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Nargis A. Madon. She is the founder Principal of J.H.Tarapore School. The event was presided over by the school Principal Ms.Lata Sharat and Vice-Principal Ms.Rukshana H. Gardin.

A total of 52 members were inducted into the Cabinet and given their portfolios. The Cabinet was sworn in, beginning with the School Pupil Leader, Ananya Jayanti Singh (Std.XII) and Assistant School Pupil Leader, Uditi Kumari Gupta(Std. XI), followed by the four house leaders , the Sports Minister, Cultural Minister, Discipline Minister, Cleanliness Minister, Ethics Minister and the Activity Club Leaders along with their assistants.

 The students were nominated and then elected by the students of the High School. They are the ones who have proved to be responsible and have shown exceptional leadership qualities throughout their school life.

The school always strives to inculcate a sense of commitment and responsibility among the students. The Investiture Ceremony was held with the aim to invest the students with the sense of responsibility and enable them to work towards shared goals.

The Senior Leaders encouraged them to put in honest efforts for every endeavour and become an inspiration for others.

Fruit Fair 2022

“You are what you eat, so eat well and feel good”.

The Kg. Department celebrated a “Fruit Fair” on the 28th of June 2022. A special assembly was conducted where a variety of fruits were displayed so the children could see ,learn and identify the fruits correctly .
The teachers taught the tiny tots songs on fruits and danced along with them.
Later a fruit salad was prepared along with the children and the little ones relished it.
A worksheet on fruits was also done as a take home activity .
The day was packed with activities and the children had a lot of fun.

International Yoga Day -2022

International Yoga Day is observed every year on June 21 to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world.
Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice. It plays an important role in relaxing the mind and body and boosting people’s immune system.

We at J. H. Tarapore School celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm. A special assembly with the theme ‘Yoga For Humanity’ was conducted by the Fitness Freaks Club of the Primary Department.
Importance of Yoga and yoga postures was discussed. The students performed various ‘asanas’ depicting the benefits of Yoga and promised to introduce this activity in their daily lives.

Blue Day Celebration

Blue is the colour of the sky, the limit of your imagination & the beginning of your dreams.

The tiny tots of the Kg. Department celebrated “Blue Day” on the 5th of May 2022. A well planned assembly was organised to celebrate this day. The assembly began with the prayer thanking God for all his blessings.
The teachers familiarised the students with a few blue objects like a blue bell flower and inkpot, a blue whale, a blue bird, the blue sky, the blue sea etc using props. The teachers danced and sang a peppy song on Blue for the Kg. children.

The students also participated in an activity “Dot and Dab” in which the children made raindrops with their little thumbs. To make this day more special the teachers made headgears for all the children with the message “Save Water”. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day dancing and singing with their teachers.

International Dance Day Celebration – Primary Department

To honour the dancing skills of the students of J. H Tarapore an Intra School Solo Dance Competition was organised on 29th April 2022, for Std III, IV and V.
With the theme ‘Feet on Fire’. 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
The competition was held in the Freestyle category

True to the theme, the vivacious dancers set the floor on fire with their energetic performances and this was a reflection of their passion and hard work. The choreography, rhythm, synchronization and presentation of all the students were very good.

Spell Bee Competition 🐝 Primary Department

Spelling is an integral part of language which forms the basis of learning.

One way to make learning easy and to overcome stage fright is with school friends.
The Intra School Competition, ‘Spell Bee’ was organised from 19th April, 2022 to 21st April,20 22 for the students of the Primary Department-Stds. III, IV, and V.
It is an extra curricular activity which not only enhances vocabulary but also improves and develops the student’s learning ability.
The students participated actively and won with whopping scores.
