‘EVERY DROP COUNTS’

As part of the IDS activity, the students of Std IX & XI were given a topic on Water Conservation, ‘ Every Drop Counts’.
The students made models, PPTs and wrote articles to depict their research work.
The greater countries in these activities were India, Israel, Greece and Saudi Arabia. Through their models and PPTs they showed various methods of irrigation, both ancient and modern, that encouraged water conservation. These methods included Drip Irrigation, Furrow Irrigation, Sprinkler Irrigation and Desalinisation. Articles to show a comparative study of Indian methods with the partner countries were written by the students. After the completion of the activities, the students were given worksheets to see how well they had comprehended the information.
These activities encouraged the students to gather information about partner countries and in the process gave them valuable lessons on the importance of water conservation. The activity was a fair way to sensitize them about various environmental concerns.

IDS accredits schools in nurturing students by enriching teaching and learning. It is a programme that recognizes exemplary practices of internationalism in schools and includes international work as part of their curriculum and helps embedding it within the school’s culture.
The theme of IDS activity 2021 is Music Mania. The students had to research
on musical instruments of various countries like France, California and Uganda and compare it with our country, India.
Different activities were planned for smooth functioning. There was 100%
participation of the students of Std V .
Following activities were executed by the students of Class V with the help of their teachers and parents.
V A- Model Making and Report making (Comparison of the musical instruments
with the partner countries, France, California, Uganda)
V B -Chart making/ Scrapbook making on the same.
V C – PowerPoint Presentation
These activities, helped the students to improve their literacy skills and they
were also able to enhance collaborative learning skills.

International Library Month (October) Quiz was conducted on October 30th 2021, for Std I-IX & XI successfully.

The students of J. H. Tarapore School participated in the ‘International Dimension in Schools’ (IDS). The activities were divided into various segments dividing from Kindergarten to Class XII.
Students of Std. III and IV too participated in the IDS activities. The activities were based on the theme – “Our Heritage is Our Identity”.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the activities for this segment were conducted online under the supervision of their parents and teachers.
Alongside India, the partner countries were Kenya – Greece – Brazil.
In a collaborative act, students were informed about the binary culture of India and its partner countries.
The students of Std. III learned the following –
(i) The way of greeting people by wearing native costumes.
(ii) Students also made charts on words used for greeting people.
(iii) Worksheets particularly based on greeting gestures.
The students of Std. IV executed the various activities-
(i) Online Dance Competition representing the culture of India and assigned
countries.
(ii) Making handicraft items – Kenyan Maasai-Indian beads jewelry/Warli Art – Greek Art /Brazilian Carnival Mask-Indian Tribal Mask.
(iii) Worksheets particularly based on important monuments.
The learning was shared on the Class Whatsapp group(s) and uploaded in Google Classroom & Forms respectively.

We at J.H. Tarapore School participated in International Dimensions in School activity(British Council) through Virtual mode.
The topic for IDS Activity(British Council) this year was “Smart Meals “.
The students of the Kg Department participated with great enthusiasm and completed all the activities with full vigour.
The L.Kg. children were supposed to make sandwiches (cooking without fire) prevalent in India and in partner countries which were Germany, USA and Japan. The students spoke about the healthy and unhealthy eating habits of the people of these countries.
Similarly, H.Kg. students made scrapbooks. Various activities were also done on the worksheets sent by the teachers on the Google classroom like  worksheets and video.
The activities were knowledge based and included learning-by-doing assignments. Students, along with their parents gained information and learnt a lot from this activity based learning programme .

14 सितंबर 2021 को ‘हिंदी दिवस’ के अवसर पर जे. एच. तारापोर स्कूल में वर्चुअल प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें एच. के. जी से 12वीं तक के सभी बच्चों ने भाग लिया । इन प्रतियोगिताओं के द्वारा बच्चों को अपनी प्रतिभा दिखाने का मौका मिला । प्रत्येक कक्षा के लिए अलग-अलग प्रतियोगिता थी, जैसे – कार्ड मेकिंग, नुक्कड़ नाटक, विज्ञापन, बुकमार्क, स्टैंड अप कॉमेडी इत्यादि । सभी बच्चों ने बढ़  – चढ़कर हिस्सा लिया और कार्यक्रम की शोभा बढ़ाई।

J. H. Tarapore School celebrated Virtual Convergence, 2021 on the 31^st July, Saturday. The Chief Guest for the event Mrs. Rubina Bodhanwala, Managing Trustee Tarapore Schools inaugurated the function. Convergence is a forum that gives all an opportunity to know, interact and make new friends with students of other schools. It is a non-competitive, fun-filled and innovative learning workshop;  The theme of the day was ‘International Year of Fruits and Vegetables’

Convergence reflects the flawless efforts of teachers and students, who, with their dedication and hard work make a difference; these students and teachers go beyond the ordinary and make the day happening, joyful and full of enthusiasm.    

This year 18 schools participated in the event. The students were segregated into different categories, with innovative names of fruits and vegetables such as – Okra, Paprika, Bell Peppers, Cilantro, Cherry Tomatoes, Zucchini, Dragon Fruit, Asparagus, Kiwi, Broccoli & Gooseberry. There were a total of four sessions throughout the day, where children could showcase their creative and cookery skills; Of course, any event is incomplete without dance and music, so to end the day children danced Zumba to the tune of “My Dream is to Fly over the Rainbow, So High”.
