Annual Sports Day 2024

J.H. Tarapore School celebrated its 22nd Annual Sports Day on 28th November 2024 at the J.R.D. Tata Sports Complex with enthusiastic student participation and well-coordinated activities.

The event began with the Chief Guest, Mrs. Vibhuti Adesara, Head of Sports Events and Training Centers, Tata Steel, being warmly welcomed by the Director Mrs Rubina Bodhanwala, Principal, Mrs. Lata Sharat, the Vice Principal, Mrs. Rukshana Gardin, the School Head Coach, Mr. V. Arun Kumar, and the Primary Sports Head, Ms. Ekta Mandal. Following the welcome, Mrs. Adesara hoisted the school flag, marking the commencement of the program.

Following the flag hoisting ceremony, Mrs. Adesara was honored with a grand march-past led by the School Pupil Leader, Tasmia Fatma, and Assistant Leader, Vanya Pandey. The leaders of the four houses—Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, and Topaz—proudly saluted the Chief Guest as they showcased impeccable coordination and teamwork. The spirited school band, Red Velvet, further enhanced the grandeur of the event.

Torchbearers, including Reet Agarwal (SGFI selection), Dhanushree Chowdhury (CISCE National Boxing medalist), Deepanita Manik (National Carrom Champion), Archita Dey (National Table Tennis medalist) and Shreemayi Shyamal (CISCE Sports Award 2024 winner) proudly took the sportsman’s oath.,

Nursery students participated in colourful group races, marking their debut in the event, while KG and primary students competed in creative races such as Balance the Ball and Obstacle Race. Middle and senior students displayed athletic excellence in events like relays, Shot Put, Javelin, and Hurdles.

Special performances included a graceful drill titled “Little Blossoms” by students of Standards III to V, symbolizing the empowerment of the girl child, and a vibrant drill  “Rings of Victory” by students of Standards VI to VIII, which paid a heartfelt tribute to the Olympics.

The day concluded with a grand prize distribution, where trophies were awarded for Overall Championship to Emerald House and best Marching Contingent to Ruby House.

Best Athlete Awards went to Shambhavi Pathak (High School) and Reet Agarwal (Higher Secondary). The event reinforced the school’s commitment to inclusivity, teamwork, and the spirit of sportsmanship. A sincere vote of thanks was delivered to the school management, teachers, participants and supporters for making the event a resounding success.
