J. H. Tarapore School (JHTS) was inaugurated on 10th March 2002 to provide quality education to the children of the town. It is located in the heart of the town, at Dhatkidih, with a scenic view of the Beldih Lake. In 2002, it started as a co-education institution. Within two years the senior leaders realised that girls were being deprived of admissions due to the pressure for boys. A survey was conducted and the senior leaders, in their quest for continuous improvement, decided to change it to a 'Girls School' from 2004, as they believe that when a girl gets educated, a family benefits. This was in keeping with the vision of the school in mind which would help the town in the future. However, the school is committed to educate the boys who are already in school, and all of them will get a opportunity to appear for the Board exams. (ICSE). To improve the quality of education in the eastern part of the town, a branch of this school Tarapore School (TS) Agrico was started in 2004.
